In January this year, the board of directors of Oman Tourism Development Co (Omran) appointed James Wilson to the position of chief executive officer. As such, Wilson will play a key role in the sultanate’s ongoing efforts to diversify its economy away from oil-related revenues. Encouragingly, the new CEO wasted no time getting started.
Since his appointment, Omran has unveiled the Mina Sultan Qaboos Waterfront master plan, commenced design work for Madinat Al Irfan, and floated a tender for the 4.5ha Oman Telecommunications Company (Omantel) headquarters. Omran has also established a dedicated investor relations taskforce to field additional interest from private sector investors at the Mina Sultan Qaboos Waterfront project.
