With 25 years of global industry experience, Yahya Jan has been leading NORR’s Middle East and Asia (MEA) design department since 2004.
NORR’s distinct projects in the region include the Avenues Mall and the Trade Centre Tower in Kuwait, and Emirates Towers, Shangri-La Hotel, and Al Fattan Towers in Dubai.
The firm’s workload, as of 2015, was estimated to be at $18.5m (AED68m). Some of its ongoing projects in Dubai include The Address Boulevard Hotel, Sky View Residences, and Vida Residences. “The UAE is one of our most important markets in the Middle East, followed by Qatar, and Saudi Arabia,” Jan told Construction Week.”
The NORR VP is currently working to emphasise the role of learning and self-development programmes to improve employee skills. “Our group always supports continuous learning and self-development, as well as the enhancement of employee skills and knowledge appropriate to present and future opportunities within the industry,” he explained. “To support this, all our employees are encouraged to successfully complete approved courses from accredited institutions or organisations.”
Jan also underscored the significance of designs based on environmental factors.
“We are committed to the environment and social wellbeing of our community,” he said.
“We have collaborated with chosen organisations that provide our younger generation the opportunity to realise their potential, and integrate into the wider community. It comes from an awareness that as part of a larger community, it is our responsibility to support the nation – whether through our environment-focused designs or our societal obligations.”
NORR is a registered member of the Society of Engineers in the UAE.
