Dubai is synonymous with brunch, but not everyone has the same definition. At Vida Hotel Downtown Dubai, Saturdays are made for lazing around on a cabana while casually eating from the buffet of fresh, and even healthy, food.
We took the opportunity to do this on a warm-but-not-yet-hot Saturday. As the world went by just on the other side of the wall, with the Burj Khalifa towering in the distance, we lay around in a quiet, peaceful setting.
With just six pool-front cabanas and three more behind, the Vida pool area felt relatively private. The larger crowds attending brunch were seated indoors or on a terrace, so the noise did not travel. The beauty of this brunch was its truly relaxed vibe.
It was actually a little difficult to get used to at first. Brunch automatically conjures up the idea of drinking, partying and stuffing yourself full. But it is obvious that Saturdaze deliberately attempts to tone down that notion to create a chilled, family-friendly atmosphere.
We had the option to lay around all day, ordering a light meal from the menu without leaving our cabana, as well as to wander inside when we felt like eating a little bit more - or helping ourselves to dessert. From fresh juices to a make-your-own salad bar, we were able to eat as healthily as we wanted to, while not missing out on the dessert fridge, of course. .

Starting at 11am, we also had the option for a late breakfast, although with only one main meal included, we chose a more lunch-like dish: halloumi salad and mini beef burgers.
Mini cheese beef burgers.
While many of Dubai’s beachfront resorts charge AED100-300 only to lie on a sunbed, at AED239 per person (or AED139 without the cabana) the Saturdaze brunch is good value for money, while inducing calm. No craziness here, this was the ultimate relaxing Saturday.
